Located at the east end of the Union Gas Dawn Parkway system near Milton, ON, the expansion of the Union Gas Parkway Compressor Station was completed over two phases in 2006 and 2007.
Raven Construction was responsible for all civil activities associated with the expansion of the facility. Our scope included:
- Berm relocation (approx. 10,000 CM), site preparation and grading activities in support of temporary construction facilities including: parking, laydown and construction trailers
- Excavation and backfill in support of large and small bore piping and electrical services
- Cast-in-place concrete installation for Plant B compressor building, pipe and valve supports, after coolers, control building, APU building, cable trenches and miscellaneous structures
- Construction of new plant access road complete with fencing and vehicle gate
- Final grading
Highlights
- As the project was executed within an existing operating facility, trenching for large bore piping was very challenging due to the complexity of installing new piping through existing underground services which then had to be tied into the existing facility.
- High water tables at the Project site created significant challenges with respect to the dewatering of multiple excavations simultaneously.
