Located just east of St. Joseph, MB, Phase I of the St. Joseph Wind Farm consisted of sixty (60) wind turbines covering 125 square kilometres, making it the largest wind farm scheduled to be constructed in Canada in 2010. The wind farm will provide enough power to meet the needs of 50,000 homes.
Raven Construction was contracted to overlook and execute all concrete related activities within the Substation area of this project. Our scope included:
- Excavation & backfill activities
- Drilling of 34 concrete piles including rebar installation
- Formwork, rebar and concrete installation pertaining to foundations supporting all Substation equipment, buildings and above ground structures [750 CM]
Highlights
- The short duration of this project, in conjunction with an abnormally wet Manitoba summer, required a great deal of coordination between direct hire workers, subcontractors and suppliers in order to successfully meet aggressive milestone dates while working within a very tight budget
